Fabric classification
Time:2024-01-18
There are many types of fabrics, which can be divided into the following categories according to different raw materials:
Natural fibers: including cotton, linen, silk, wool, etc. These fibers are hygroscopic, breathable, and generally soft and skin-friendly. They are often used to make T-shirts, bedding, underwear, traditional dresses, homewares, and high fashion. 1
Synthetic fibers: These fibers are chemically manufactured and include polyester fibers (such as polyester), nylon, acrylic, polypropylene, spandex, etc. Their properties are usually high strength, wear resistance, easy drying, water resistance or warmth. These fibers are widely used in outdoor sportswear, luggage, tents, shirts, T-shirts, curtains, seat covers, sportswear, household items, luggage, gloves, blankets, underwear, swimsuits, tights, etc.
Regenerated fibers and synthetic fibers: These fibers are synthesized through chemical processes and include viscose, acetate, cupro, etc. They are characterized by soft hand feel, good gloss, good hygroscopicity, good breathability, and good dyeing performance, but they are not resistant to washing. 2
Chemical fiber: This type of fiber is made of natural or artificial polymer materials, including polyester, nylon, acrylic, vinylon, polypropylene, spandex, etc. They are characterized by high strength, abrasion resistance, low moisture absorption or breathability, and are suitable for garments that require strong support or specific functions.
Special fibers: including various special materials, such as metal fibers, glass fibers, carbon fibers, etc., their application depends on specific needs and technical conditions.
Fur: Also known as fur, it is a high-grade natural clothing fabric. It is mainly made of animal hair through special chemical treatment and technological processing. It has the characteristics of lightness, softness and beauty, and is mainly used for cold-proof clothing.
That’s a basic overview of fabric types.
